There are many types of suffering.  One often forgotten type of suffering is temptation to sin.  Temptation to sin is suffering that all Christians must bear but Christ our Priest has help for us.  In the midst of temptation our Priest is shows mercy, makes atonement for us and He prays for us.  Al’s message from the 17th of April, 2011.

A couple things from this sermon just jumped out at me this week. Firstly, the whole discussion on sin, as it relates to Psychiatry and Psychology was troubling. I suppose I could agree that sin is at the root of mental illness. However, then we would have to agree that it’s at the root of all illness. So, I am sure you are not suggesting that those suffering from illness just look for sin in their lives, forgoing a potentially life saving medical procedure. Mental illness is as real as physical illness. To give the simplistic treatment on the issue that you did was a bit disappointing.
Secondly, I am still not sure where this idea that the Psalms are the prayers of Jesus comes from. I believe that you explain this at the prayer evening, but this week you just threw it out there during your sermon. Perhaps a better explanation will help me understand. If it’s just a theory you are exploring, please let me know, because at the moment you are delivering this concept as if it is fact.
