Today’s message is an introduction to Repentance unto Life. Repentance unto life is a saving grace worked in our lives by the Spirit and word of God. Out of a sight and sense of the danger, filthiness, and odiousness of our sins; and through an apprehension of God’s mercy available through Jesus Christ we grieve over our sins, hate them, turn from them, and through faith and new obedience enter into the fullness of life that God has provided us through Jesus Christ.
Sermon by Al Gordon from the 2nd of October, 2016
Repentance is the threshold to God. It is our daily fruit, our hourly worship, our minute-by-minute wake up call, our reminder of God’s creation, Jesus’ blood, and the Holy Spirit’s comfort.
Rosaria Butterfield (b.1962)
The whole record of the New Testament is absolutely unanimous on this one point: True repentance must always go before true faith; without true repentance there can never be true faith.
Derek Prince (1915-2003)
I consider that the chief dangers which confront the coming century will be religion without the Holy Ghost, Christianity without Christ, forgiveness without repentance, salvation without regeneration, politics without God, and heaven without hell.
William Booth (1829-1912)
Wherever I know I am unclean He will put His feet. Wherever I think I am clean He will withdraw them.
Oswald Chambers (1874-1917)
As there is no sin so small but it deserves damnation; so there is no sin so great, that it can bring damnation upon those who truly repent.
Westminster Confession of Faith (1646)
Life is the free ability to know, love, enjoy, and obey God and all that is His. Life is rivers of living water flowing out of our inner most being.
