I Am The Way – John 14:6
That the God of the Bible is the only God there is and that Jesus is the only way to Him is plainly revealed in Scripture. But we all implacably resist it. We, who through His grace, have gotten over that initial hurdle need still to be continually vigilant because there is yet more resistance to His way within us. Sermon by Al Gordon from the 21st August, 2016.
Scripture is not just a depository of information on God’s work in the world but also the Holy Spirit’s tool for killing and making alive. Scripture possesses the power of God to judge and save, to kill and make alive.
Men do not first come to heaven and then find God: but we first find God and then come to heaven. Let us beware of imagining that we can be on the way to heaven while we have no fellowship, through Christ, with the God of heaven.
Charles Ross (1831-1892)
Whenever an evil personality of unbelief asked the Lord anything, He never answered; but when the heart cries out He answers immediately.
Oswald Chambers (1874-1917)
All that I have is yours.
Our Heavenly Father (Luke 15:31)
Let me assure you, this [sanctification] is not attained except through pain, weariness, and labor; and it will be reached by a path that will wonderfully disappoint your expectations.
Madam Guyon (1648-1717)
The truth that hurting people need encouragement has sometimes focused our attention on people’s struggles in a way that weakens our understanding of people’s sinfulness. Strugglers feel noble, but sinners feel dirty. The truth is we are both strugglers and sinners, victims and agents, people who are hurt and people who harm.
